This innovation is giving the e-bike industry a ‘run for its money.’

The electric bike market is projected to reach $118,657 million by 2030.

So, it’s a no brainer. It is the market you need to be in right now.

It isn’t easy to choose what you want to invest in as more and more e-bike brands are coming out on the market.

We have made it that bit easier for you by looking at the current market, telling you exactly where the gap is and who is filling this gap.

GLOBAL DEMAND FOR E-BIKES

Americans are buying an e-bike EVERY 52 SECONDS.

Globally, people are buying an e-bike EVERY 3 MINUTES.

The Netherlands sold over 400,000 e-bikes in 2018.

It’s no surprise there is a bike shortage, leaving people waiting until 2023 for a bike.

But this is not bad as the world is tackling climate change and reaching SDG goals.

THE E-BIKE MARKET CURRENTLY

Due to this huge demand, brands would be silly not to go where the money is, especially the automotive sector.

High-end automotive brands like BMW are imitating e-bikes and taking them to the next level. The BMW I Vision AMBY is similar to an e-bike aesthetically, but its offering goes beyond.

This is just one of five concepts BMW have introduced for its vision of individual mobility.

Ford has also taken a piece of the e-bike market, having registered a US patent for  a ‘bicycle derailleur apparatus for controlling bicycle speed.’ A great move has given the current cycling boom.

And the list can go on. However, these automotive brands charge thousands for a car, so at what price will they sell e-bikes?

As we know, BMW sits on the high-end of cars, so its e-bike user will be of a similar audience: one that can afford luxury goods.

Other e-bikes on the market also have a high price point that isn’t affordable for all.

THE GAP IN THE MARKET

This leaves a ‘gap in the market’ which we fill.

TK-1 makes e-bikes accessible and affordable for all with our retrofit e-bike conversion kit.

This is how we compare to other e-bikes on the market:

ADD COMPETITORS GRID HERE, IMAGE THAT IS ALREADY ON WEBSITE

We tick every box AND give everyone a chance at moving to a greener mode of transport.

Our price point will also encourage people to live a healthier lifestyle and fight climate change together.

So let’s fill this gap, break through the glass ceiling and ride into a future of innovation together.

5 reasons cycling will improve your mental health

1 in 4 people experience mental health problems.

Everyone has something going on in their life that causes them stress, worry and anxiety. But it is all about having that balance.

Everyone must have their release or something they do which helps with their mental health.

Everyday things include cooking, reading, cleaning and a popular one, exercise. Whether going to the gym, swimming or simply a walk, fitness is a go-to for many.

Appropriate foods by rounding out pantry food options with fresh produce rarely found on shelves. In 2018, the Hunger Task Force delivered more than 9 million pounds of food to serve Milwaukee’s hungry.

Exercise and mental health

So, what is it about exercising that people are hooked?

Exercise reduces levels of the stress hormone in people’s body such as adrenaline and cortisol.

Exercising also stimulates endorphins, the chemicals in the brain that are the body’s natural painkiller and mood elevator.

More importantly, a study shows low-intensity exercise 3-5 days a week was the best at increasing positive moods.

What are low intensity and feel good?

Cycling!

Here are our top 5 reasons you should cycle to maintain good mental health.

Boosts mood

Cycling boosts positive mental health. Cycling pumps blood around the body at a rate that allows for the swift spread of dopamine and serotonin.

Spend time with the outdoors

Cycling means having the benefit of nature. Research has shown being outdoors is linked to boosting moods and cognitive benefits, so it’s a win-win!

This also means finding the best cycle routes and scenic places to make it a more enjoyable ride.

Bike rides with friends

Good company is always time well spent… and cycling doesn’t have to be done alone! Being outdoors, cycling, and being around others is the best remedy to take your mind off other things and focusing on the moment.

Proven stress reliefer

A study found that 15% more people who ride a bike daily are satisfied with their lives than those who haven’t cycled since becoming an adult. Also, you won’t have the stress of paying for a gym membership!

TK-1 makes cycling easier

Cycling is for everyone, and we have made sure of that. TK-1 believes cycling is a form of exercise that should be available and accessible to everyone, which led to the creation of TK-1.
TK-1 is a retrofit e-bike converter kit, which converts over 95% of bikes globally into an e-bike! For those not aware, an e-bike ensures an easier ride with true pedal assist. This means doesn’t matter what age, weight, or health, TK-1 is for everyone.

It also means you can practically have an e-bike for less than a quarter of the price that is being sold today on the market.

So PRE-ORDER YOUR KIT TODAY and look after your mental health.

Why are people buying an e-bike?

Fight climate change & go carbon neutral with TK-1

You know a conversation has become awkward when you start talking about the weather…

But in 2021, it’s a bit more than awkward; it’s concerning.

The UK experienced some unusual storms this week. Everyone knows British weather is unreliable and summers are unpredictable, but after 2 weeks of the heatwave, the UK experienced massive thunderstorms due to climate change.

What is climate change?

If we looked back 20 years ago, summers were hot, and winters were cold, as they should be. Now, due to climate change, it will snow in March and thunderstorm in July.

Climate change, in basic terms, is the process of the earth heating up as a result of human activity.

One of the biggest causes of climate change is carbon dioxide (Co2), caused by transportation, deforestation and consuming electricity.

How does this affect you?

Well, higher temperatures do not mean booking the beer garden and enjoying the warm weather.

The Co2 in the atmosphere, also known as global warming, causes unpredictable and severe weather.

This explains the thunderstorms and extreme hail which the UK experienced.

Not only is this impacting animals and their natural habitats, but also us humans. Farmers in developing countries are having to deal with extremely hot weather and flooding, ruining crops.

The climate change crisis

There is no doubt that you haven’t heard about climate change. In more recent years, it has been the topic of conversation, debate, and action.

Even businesses around the world are taking a stance:

UK supermarket Sainsbury’s pledges to half its plastic use within 6 years.

H&M aims to use 100% recycled or sustainably sourced materials by 2030.

Service company BT hit its 2020 target four years ahead of schedule and aims to cut carbon emissions from its supply chain by 29%.

Levi’s aims towards 100% sustainably sourced cotton and recycling old jeans into home insulation.

Let’s ride to carbon-neutral together

It is a no-brainer that we a talking about climate change.

One way you can help to save the planet is to ride with us. Ride a bike.

As we know, transportation such as cars and buses release the most Co2, so we are offering an alternative.

We get it; riding a bike isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but we can make it yours!

TK-1 turns your current bike into an e-bike, encouraging usual bike riders and new riders to get on a bike.

E-bikes release between 2.6g to 5g of Co2, but it gives out 100 times less co2 per mile than a car.

TK-1 gives the best of both worlds.

Our conversion kit is manufactured using green technology and turns bikes into e-bikes to encourage more people to ditch their cars.

The kit offers true pedal assistance, aiding you on hills and difficult terrains, encouraging everyone to ride a bike.

Our commitment to sustainability

As a brand, we aim to go carbon neutral.

So, do it all with TK-1: Ride a bike and save the planet.

Price, preference & pedals

Price, preference & pedals

When was the last time you went on a date?

We appreciate this may have been some time ago, but there’s so much to love about dating!

Meeting new people, the different locations, and we can’t forget about the 2 for 1 espresso martini’s…

Before we get carried away reminiscing, the point is, you love dating because you don’t have to put your eggs in one basket. We like to have options.

Well, this is not only the case with dating. It goes with most things in life. We like options. It’s better than being limited to one thing because options make us feel like we have a personal choice.

And this is something TK-1 values.

A, B or C?

We want each of our riders to feel like their preferences have been catered to. Which one are you?

The bike Phanatic who loves to cycle?

The one who has a bike but can’t be bothered to cycle?

Or someone who would never consider owning a bike because it seems like too much hard work?

Believe it or not, TK-1 has something for all of you, regardless of which person you are. E-bikes have pedal-assist technology, which means it helps you pedal when cycling.

Whereas TK-1 doesn’t stick to basics. We wanted to give you 3 pedalling options:

  1. Normal cycling
  2. A percentage of partial assist (so you can cycle and have some assistance)
  3. Full pedal assistance (100% of the pedalling is done for you!)

3’s a charm

You will catch on; we love the number 3. As well as 3 pedal assist options, we also have 3 TK-1 kits you can choose from.

kit 1:

A kit with no battery. Our thinking behind this one is that you can get a battery anywhere globally, and they are not expensive.

This makes kit 1 affordable for those on a low budget who don’t want to splash out but still have the TK-1 experience. (Your google equivalent to ‘cheap’ electric bike!)

Kit 2:

The kit with batteries. This is pricier than kit 1 but fits well with the middle price bracket.

Kit 3:

The kit with batteries, Bluetooth, and full smart technology. This kit is for those who want to splash out and get the ultimate TK-1 experience.

The ultimate experience

Frankly, all kits give you the ultimate TK-1 experience, but the techier you get, the more it will cost. This comes down to what you want, which is why we have considered 2 main factors when creating our kits: choice and pricing.

By having 3 kits, you get an element of personal choice and going for which excites you the most. Whilst pricing considers those from all walks of life with different budgets in mind.

Some of you want a ‘cheap electric bike’ option which does the job, and others like the complete works. Both are valid.

All around the world

If we look globally, every economy is different, and everyone’s disposable income varies.

What’s more, purchasing a brand-new e-bike creates that wealth gap as they are so pricey. So even when you search for a cheap electric bike, prices start from £499.00. Not so cheap!

This is something we want to diminish. TK-1 is not asking you to buy a bike. We are converting the bike you currently have to an e-bike like no other and giving it a new lease of life.

TK-1 believes there should be no barriers when it comes to cycling. Whether you want to take up or feel it is a better choice for the environment, let’s do it together with TK-1.

Top 5 cycling cities around the world

One bike. One TK-1 kit. One hundred and ninety-five countries. Where are you heading first?

From New York to Tokyo, you may be on the same bike, but you are definitely in a different place, and we don’t mean because of the food you’re eating either!

Country to country, a bike has its meaning and its own culture. Let’s take you on a ride around the world on our top 5 picks!

Mexico City, Mexico

Bike translation: Bicicleta

The largest city in North America, Mexico City, has its complex routes, but the pandemic has shifted its attention to becoming more cycling friendly.

With scenic views and uphill mountain rides, it’s the perfect way to see the city, burn calories and the perfect excuse to turn your bike into an e-bike (for that easier and enjoyable ride!)

Here are 3 ways you can get cycling in Mexico City:

  1. Cycling any day, every day! Although the best way to see Mexico City would be through the traffic and local streets, the city consists of 150km of committed bike lanes, leading to accessible access routes to Historic Center, Reforma Avenue, Polanco, Condesa the Roma neighbourhoods.

  2. Sunday cycling! Sundays have been dedicated to the Muévete en Bici (Move by Bike) event, covering 55 km of streets in Mexico City. 7 am and 2 pm every Sunday, boulevards turn into a cyclists path of heaven… Cyclists can take in the open and safe streets whilst others go on walks, free Zumba classes and Mexican martial arts outdoors.

  3.  One-off rides… The Environment Ministry of Mexico City organises a Night Ride in Reforma Avenue and Chapultepec Park throughout the year. The traditional night ride, ‘Ride of Dia de Muertos’, where you will see people in costumes and covered in face paint on bikes. The event has broken an attendance record of over 95,000 bike riders before!

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Bike translation: fiets

There are more bikes then people in Amsterdam… Not sure how true that is, but there is a whopping 800,000 bikes there!

Amsterdam has a great cycling culture, with bikes around streets which people use to go to work on, drop children to school and use for daily errands.

As a tourist, a bike ride in Amsterdam is a must on the list. There are plenty of places to go and rent a bike, as well as guided tours to help tourists get around in the best way, on the best routes!

Paris, France

Bike translation: vélo

The city of love is also the city of bikes! Paris is a place for easy bike rides with flat roads and scenic places.

The city has a bike-sharing programme called Vélib, the largest in the world after China!

There are approximately 20,000 rental bikes and 1800 stations around Paris to get you started on your bike ride!

New York, USA

This was a no brainer on the list. New York is remarkable for its city life, shopping and theatre, but don’t forget amongst all the hustle and bustle and New York’s finest parks!

The ‘Bike Life’ movement in New York unifies people in the city to come together for one love, riding a bike. No discrimination and no violence, just them on a bike.

Bike Life aims to make New York a better place: Reduce carbon footprint, make NYC a physically and mentally healthier society, reduce crime, bring social equality benefits and focus on the quality of life.

Now, who wouldn’t want to be a part of a movement like that?

Let’s not forget the iconic tourist spots for a bike ride around NYC (with bike routes): Hudson River Greenway, Ocean Parkway Bike Path, Central Park Loop Prospect Park Path, and that’s just a few!

Montreal, Canada

You may be surprised at this on our top 5; however, Montreal calls itself the most bicycle-friendly city on earth!

The city has over 435 miles of bike paths, great tours and bike rentals to get you pedalling on the best routes!

Montreal has a BIXI shared bike system for short commutes from April to November. The best part? You get to ride for 30 minutes free at any time in the day!

It’s worth noting if you were to turn your bike into an e-bike with the TK-1 kit, Montreal law states you have to wear a helmet as you can reach speeds of 32 km per hour… safety first!

How to solve top 3 bike problems

You’re on your way to work, and you just turned left onto a busy road, so you are trying to pick up the speed. The bike is on the highest possible gear, and you feel like you’re flying by. When you think everything is well and good, you think something is wrong. You get off the busy road and check your bike to find the chain is broken. Yet again, you are late to work…

This is just one of many problems with bikes that people settle with, or why people never got on a bike. Now, with the choice of an electric bike, there is a solution to these problems.

As we all know, the issue with an electric bike is it doesn’t fit everyone’s budget. It’s a good thing there is also a solution to that. Our TK-1 retrofit conversion kit transforms your current bike (95% of major bike brands globally), into an electric bike, at a budget that fits all!

Still not convinced as to why you need to convert your current bike into an electric bike? Read on to see if you can relate to our top 3 bike problems…

Still not convinced as to why you need to convert your current bike into an electric bike? Read on to see if you can relate to our top 3 bike problems…

Bike problem 1

Number one on our list is speed. The person on the bike is probably getting cursed at left, right and centre because they are slowing the traffic down. After all, you can only go so fast on a bike!

Convert to an electric bike:

E-bikes are known for their much faster speed. TK-1 specifically offers true pedal-assist technology from 0% to 100%. This means you have the option of regular cycling, partial pedal assist at a chosen percentage, or full pedal assist at 100%. So, if you thought you were flying on gear 5, wait till you fit your TK-1 conversion kit!

Bike problem 2

If we go back to your journey to work, your bike chain is broken. This is very common when going uphill or riding on high gear. Depending on the quality, it can cost between £15 to £60 to replace the chain on your bike.

Convert to an electric bike:

Let’s prevent this problem from occurring in the first place. E-bikes alleviate that pressure from riding uphill with pedal assist. As mentioned above, TK-1 gives other pedal-assist options to ensure replacing your bike chain is not a reoccurring problem.

Bike problem 3

Let’s touch on our last BIG bike problem, which isn’t to do with the bike itself. There are many reasons why people start cycling for health or fitness, fresh air, a hobby. But there are so many more people who don’t ride a bike because they feel they have ‘passed that age’, are not fit enough or can’t be bothered because it seems like too much effort. The reality is, a bike puts up its barriers.

Convert to an electric bike:

An electric bike is a solution to those specific problems, but it isn’t an affordable option for all. At the same time, TK-1 tackles all of these problems, affordable and available worldwide. With our pedal-assist feature, TK-1 ensures there is no restriction on age or health.

We’ve concluded that bikes come with their fair share of problems and an electric bike brings some of the solutions. But why waste your money on a new e-bike when you can give your current bike a new lease of life with TK-1?

Let’s say your manager will never have to moan at you for being late again, courtesy of TK-1!

THE ‘REIGN’ OF E-BIKES IN A BICYCLE DROUGHT

The ‘reign’ of e-bikes in a bicycle drought

You get told every route has a destination; the classic ‘get up and make it happen.’ However, the minute you think about getting on a bike to get there, let’s say you will not be reaching your destination anytime soon…

No, not because of covid, but the bike shortage, which has left people waiting till 2023. This comes after the demand for bikes outstrips supply.

Unprecedented times

If we ride back to the first lockdown in the UK, many people turned to cook and exercise as we lived under the ‘stay at home’ instruction. Workers were furloughed, people moved to work from home, and cycling was permitted. This was when the bike trade started to go off track.

Since then, the lockdown has eased and come back several times, but the pandemic has certainly changed one thing for good: the way people get from A to B. Rather than public transport, cycling is seen as much safer, but the supply of bikes has shown this has not been an option for all.

According to Cycling Industries Europe (CIE), 85% of bicycle companies are experiencing problems, and supply chain challenges are unlikely to be resolved in 2021.

The delays are causing a ripple effect on the manufacturing and selling of bikes, but long-term forecasts look optimistic.

With the confidence in an increase in investment, research, and development in the bicycle industry, the global market is set to reach $78 billion by 2026, says PR Newswire.

Google is not your best friend

What does this mean for you?

Well, we know you have googled how to buy the bike you want in 2021, and we are not fans. ‘Stay in contact with your local store,’ ‘check websites regularly,’ spend a little more.’ these are things you already know and are not working.

Then comes the option of an electric bike.

An electric bike is known for its ‘easy ride’ with extra peddling support and a green mode of transport.

The electric bike market is expected to reach $38.6 billion by 2025, but a bike shortage remains.

End destination: TK-1

We have a route for you. Save yourself time and money with an electric bike converter. TK-1 retrofit kits allow you to turn any bike into a high-performance mid-drive electric bike. But we do not just provide ‘an easy ride.’

All electric bike converters on the market right now make a change to the actual bike, for example, changing the current wheel on the bike with a motored wheel, whereas TK-1 ensures no changes.

We give your original bike a new lease of life and power with our hybrid design of pedal-assist technology. This means with a flick of a switch; you have the option of regular cycling, a percentage of partial assist, or full assistance.

Before you switch off, let’s address the elephant in the room…

This is an affordable piece of kit. TK-1 is green, innovative, sustainable, global, and affordable because no one should miss out.

THE GRASS IS GREENER IN THE LEFT LANE

To be honest, if you’re a driver reading this right now, what annoys you the most when driving?

A.  People not looking and crossing the road

B.  Cyclists on the road

C.  Cars which are parked in a wrong place

Ideally, we’re hoping you picked B… if not, read on anyway!

For those of you who get annoyed by cyclists, we will not tell you not to get annoyed.

Cyclists slow us down and always seem to be in the way, especially when you happen to be in a rush.

Only if they could pedal faster…

What if they didn’t have to?

TK-1 is a retrofit conversion kit that transforms a bicycle into an electric bike (e-bike). The hybrid bike provides 3 modes of assistance:

  • Normal cycling
  • A percentage of partial assist, moderated with the cyclers own pedalling power
  • Full pedal assistance

Pedal-assist

This means no more holding up the traffic. Pedal-assist allows you to cycle at a much faster rate so that you can keep up, and a bonus when there is standing still traffic!

But that isn’t the only reason you need to ditch your car…

We all know cars and other vehicles add to pollution, so let us put it into perspective:

The grass is greener on the other side

E-bikes release 100 times less co2 per mile than a car.

What’s better is, TK-1 is manufactured using green technology. This means, compared to a normal e-bike which releases a lot of co2 during the manufacturing stage, TK-1 has no detrimental effects on the environment.

Taking the above benefits of an e-bike into consideration, TK-1 reduce your carbon footprint, and we strive to become carbon neutral.

It doesn’t stop there. TK-1 only costs 2p per mile to run!

A piece of cake

It is great to hear the benefits of an e-bike, but how does this benefit you?

Imagine a cake. Let’s say half of the cake is fresh and ready to eat, whereas the other half is stale, but the whole cake looks the same.

You’ve taken a stale slice but are not aware. You don’t realise until your body reacts to the gone off cake a day later.

It’s the same with pollution: you drive a car which releases co2 into the atmosphere. You cannot see the direct effect on yourself and think it is no harm when the results are long term. Co2 leads to bad air quality, which we inhale, affecting our breathing, plants and organisms.

This takes us back to the benefits of an e-bike, particularly TK-1: environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Out of my League

The best part is that we are not asking you to buy a new e-bike that could cost you up to £15,000.

Take your current bike and TK-1.

Our kit costs nowhere near what it would purchase a new e-bike because there are no barriers with us when it comes to looking after our environment.

With TK-1, be aware of your environment, turn to green technology and strive for carbon neutrality.

Who said you couldn’t have your cake and eat it?
